Registration: XMU Energy Storage Micro-Major

In response to China’s dual-carbon strategy and global energy transition, Xiamen University launches the Micro-Major in Energy Storage Science and Engineering. Leveraging its strengths in energy, materials and electrical engineering, and partnering with leading enterprises including CATL and Xiamen Kehua Digital Energy Tech Co., Ltd, the program builds an interdisciplinary platform for industry-education integrated talent cultivation. It is open to all XMU undergraduates, excluding students majoring in Energy Storage Science and Engineering.
Highlights
1. Full-industry-chain Curriculum
The program offers 8 core courses (15 credits), covering key fields such as photovoltaic-energy storage principles and technologies, battery technology, photovoltaic-energy storage system integration and intelligent design, smart microgrid and virtual power plant technology, operation, maintenance and digital management of photovoltaic-energy storage power stations, power market and carbon asset operation, development and business model design of photovoltaic-energy storage projects. Integrated with internships and frontier lectures, the curriculum balances solid theories and industrial practicality.
2. In-depth Industry-Education Integration
Supported by on-campus innovation platforms and off-campus internship bases co-built with top enterprises, the project-focused program allows students to conduct rotational internships, applying professional knowledge and accessing cutting-edge industrial technologies.
3. AI-powered Smart Teaching System
Equipped with knowledge graph and AI technologies, the visualized learning system helps students track progress, identify weaknesses and acquire personalized improvement plans. Extended smart energy courses effectively broaden students’ professional horizons and comprehensive competence.
4. Flexible Learning and Humanized Assessment
Courses are mainly arranged in regular hours with limited evening and weekend sessions for flexible study. Replacing written exams, the program adopts comprehensive evaluation based on practical performance, greatly reducing academic pressure.
5. Authoritative Certification & Promising Careers
Qualified students will receive an official XMU micro-major certificate. They will master full-chain photovoltaic and energy storage technologies, competent for R&D, system design, operation and market management posts. Outstanding students gain priority for internships and employment at cooperative leading enterprises.
