The Institute of Nuclear Energy

The Institute of Nuclear Energy was established in January 2014. It has 14 full-time faculty and staff members. Its mission is to collaborate with domestic and international nuclear power enterprises and research institutions, to meet the technical demands of national nuclear safety regulatory verification, and to achieve breakthroughs in technological R&D. The Institute supports the safe and efficient development of China's nuclear power and related industries, and promotes the development of Fujian Province's nuclear power industry.

The Institute's primary research areas include: (1) irradiation behavior of nuclear materials, design and development of nuclear materials, and spent fuel disposal; (2) advanced nuclear power instrumentation and control systems, safety analysis and simulation of nuclear energy systems, and development of advanced thermal-hydraulic systems; (3) engineering development and application of high-efficiency energy conversion systems represented by the supercritical carbon dioxide Brayton cycle, and novel working fluid preparation technologies for power cycles. Currently, with the support of "Fujian Provincial Nuclear Energy Engineering Technology Research Center", the Institute has established a multi-ion beam and transmission electron microscope in-situ irradiation facility that is unique in China and world-leading," along with nearly 50 sets of high-value research and testing instruments and equipment, with a total value exceeding 40 million RMB. The Institute has undertaken nearly 100 research projects with total funding exceeding 60 million RMB. It has cultivated over 100 master's students and nearly 20 doctoral students. The Institute has established extensive and in-depth collaborative relationships in scientific research and student training with top overseas universities and research institutions, while also maintaining close cooperation with major domestic nuclear power enterprises.
