Among the talent pool, national-level high-level talents account for approximately 20%, with an additional 37 recognized at the Fujian provincial level and 38 at the Xiamen municipal level.
Currently, our college has 687 students, including 327 undergraduates, 246 masters and 114 doctoral students, with a graduate-to-undergraduate ratio of approximately 0.91:1. Three courses have been selected as First-Class Courses in Fujian Province, and 10 courses have been selected as model courses for curriculum-based ideological and political education at Xiamen University. The College has obtained approval for 1 national and provincial-level teaching reform project, 7 provincial-level teaching reform projects, and 7 teaching reform projects at Xiamen University. The College further strengthens the distinctive features of engineering education through deep integration with leading enterprises and the development of high-level, demand-driven training models aligned with the “New Engineering” initiative. It has established industry - education integration bases with major enterprises such as State Grid Corporation of China, China Energy Investment Corporation, China National Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd., and Xiamen Tungsten Co., Ltd., cultivating interdisciplinary and innovative engineering talents with all-round development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education. Students actively participate in domestic and international scientific and technological competitions and have achieved outstanding results, winning awards such as the Gold Prize in the 5th China “Internet+” College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the Gold Prize in the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition, the Special Prize in the final of the 15th National College Students Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition, and the Gold Prize in the national finals of the 14th “Challenge Cup” Chinese College Students’ Entrepreneurship Plan Competition. The College actively promotes international talent cultivation, carrying out exchanges and cooperation with leading universities and enterprises in Europe and North America, organizing various international summer camps, and jointly training undergraduate students with University of Birmingham, providing students with opportunities to interact with faculty and students from top universities in the United States and the United Kingdom. Key performance indicators including graduate employment rate, employment satisfaction, employment in key industries, and the contribution rate of high-level papers published by graduate students as first or co-authors, also rank among the top in Xiamen university.
The College has established China’s first integrated multi-ion beam and transmission electron microscopy facility which is a world-leading platform of its kind as well.
