Professor Long Weiding from Tongji University gave us a lecture of which the theme was Urban demand side energy planning in A221 lecture hall, He Mu building on the evening of April 11th.

In this lecture, professor Long introduced his original ideas and opinions to teachers and students present, and he conducted in-depth exchange with audience. Guo Qixun, vice dean of College of Enerny hosted the meeting and presented the monument of XMU Academic Lecture to Professor Long.

Firstly, Professor Long Weiding introduced the present urban energy structure of our country, accounted clearly that the difference between china and other developed countries in the proportion structure of three city energy consumption, including industrial energy consumption, building energy consumption and traffic energy  consumption, and stated deeply about how to adjust urban energy consumption in three aspects, including productive consumption, consumption energy consumption and ensuring people's livelihood energy consumption. On this basis, he introduced the features of new urbanization energy utilization is to adapt to the transformation and upgrading of economic structure, meet the requirements of industrial age to the information age, control the total amount of energy consumption, carbon emission and pollution emission and meet the requirements of livelihood energy consumption and urban living consumption energy demand. He emphasized that the attitude to the issues on energy consumption which protect people's livelihood should be to guide positive energy consumption instead of prevent it.

By introducing the condition of urban construction and development above concisely, Long accounted the necessity and importance of urban strategic planning By living examples which showed all aspects of urban planning, in which the way of heat pump energy storage made people in an entirely new world the moment and divided the planning of urban energy into two methods, including supply side energy planning such as Sochi Winter Olympics and demand side energy planning such as London Olympics. What is more, he emphasized the important content of demand side energy planning and its importance to the fine urban development, and he pointed out several remarkable features of demand side energy planning, for example, he listed energy conservation as the fifth energy following coal, oil, gas and electric power. Moreover, he listed five methods of terminal energy conservation, including energy efficiency benefit, improving energy conversion efficiency, energy conservation, use of renewable energy, realization of passive energy saving by architectural form.

Long especially emphasized the concept of  Internet Plus  and distributed energy resources, which won a warm response from students. He introduced concisely what is Internet technology and distributed resources from Tesla Motors, divided distributed energy resources into three generations and respectively introduced the three generations, and pointed out a combination of urban energy micro network theory, urban redevelopment and energy planning during the urban renewal, which shows a way for urban planning.

After the lecture, teachers and students present interacted with Professor Long. The scene atmosphere was very warm.
