On Apr 11th, Junfeng Li, Director General of NCSC visited Xiamen University at the invitation of Ning Li, Dean of College of Energy, and had a symposia onResponding to Climate Change and Promoting Energy Transformation with Weiding Long, Professor of Tongji University, Nianzhi Jiao, Professor of College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, Academician of CAS, Qixun Guo, Vice Dean of College of Energy, Prof. Yunquan Liu and Fengyan Zhang.
Director Li gave us a lecture onResponding to Climate Change and Promoting Energy Transformation at the lecture hall of College of Energy at 14:30. He first introduced Scientific Uncertainty and then explained the concept of the Uncertainty of climate change, which means that the climate change is a long process and whether the climate change is caused by human activity is still far from conclusion. Then he reviewed the long-drawn-out process of the International climate change negotiations, as well as the Understanding of the international community of climate change, the latest developments in tackling climate change. He noted that the key to tackling climate change is the control of greenhouse gas emissions, which leads to the change of pattern of economic growth, energy system and the Consumption pattern. In the end, he analyzed the relationship between climate change and the Energy Revolution, expressed his point of Domestic energy interconnection first, then International Energy interconnection. The audience asked many questions in the following Q&A session.
