A few days ago, the forty-fifth Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) new energy and renewable energy technology expert group meeting was held in our university. Economic representatives from China, America, Japan, China Taipei, the Philippines and Thailand gathered in Xiamen University.

Energy development and strategic issues

In the expert closed door meeting between 16thand 17th, Zhang Shuang, China representative of APEC energy working group and Zhang Fengyan, director of  Solar Energy Research Institute, which is attached to College of Energy in  Xiamen University, both gave welcoming speech. Yang Changzhong , China Taipei representative of the new energy and renewable energy technology expert group, hosted the meeting. Wan Lin, China representative of the group, gave a speech on the new energy and renewable energy policy and development in China during recent years. All participating experts in various economies offered ideas on the new energy and renewable energy development strategy and priority problems in the APEC.

Cooperation, exchange, development  

The integrated workshop on the development of new energy and renewable energy in the APEC area was held on eighteenth. Professor Zhang Fengyan, director of Solar Energy Research Institute, hosted the meeting. APEC experts, national energy board representatives, many energy entrepreneurs were present at the meeting.

Professor Li Ning, dean of College of Energy, delivered a welcome speech. Zhang Shuang, China representative of APEC energy working group, made a speech on how national energy bureau can help enterprises develop international cooperation and overseas development. Cary Bloyd, USA representative of APEC energy working group gave a speech on the development prospects about new energy and renewable energy in 2030 of APEC.

Chen Shun long, vice counsel of Xiamen Development and Reform Commission, introduced on economic development situation and energy reform of Xiamen and welcomed everyone to invest and develop in Xiamen to promote the economic development of Xiamen together. Professor Zhang Fengyan made a speech on distributed solar energy and direct current mcrogrids. Many business representatives communicated on the solar energy development and cooperation in APEC area, including Wang Jianxun who is the representative of LERRI Solar, Hong Wei who is the chairman of Clenergy, Xu Tao who is the deputy director of CSI technical integration, Ma Maike who is the vice president of Hanergy MiaSole, Fan Bin who is the general manager of Xiamen WeiHua light energy Co.,Ltd and so on. The representatives of Xiamen Kehuahengsheng Limited by Share Ltd also attended the meeting.

19th PM, experts of all APEC economy entity visited College of Energy, and expressed praise on achievements in scientific research of solar energy and micro grid technology, biomass energy, energy storage and nuclear energy.
