The Journey to Dongfushan Islands
Time:2016-07-31   Visits:

On July 29,2016, the social practice team of College of Energy at Xiamen University arrived at Dongfushan Islands of Zhoushan City in Zhejiang Province to do the social practice whose target was to make the estimation of the electricity consumption of the local people.

Because Dongfushan Islands are the most eastern island of China where the people still live, we chose it as our destination. And the micro-grid system was also built up for the same reason.     Through the practice, we found that the system had fallen into disuse. All of the equipment was covered with ashes. There was no one maintaining the system. What will the future of the system be like?Who can guarantee the electricity supply of the locals? All of these pushed us to do further investigation.

Dongfushan Islands' special scenery attracted a lot of tourists. We did the research of electricity-consumption from door to door which could be a support for the locals.

How could the micro-grid system provide electricity for the locals?Did it really mean something to the local people? In order to answer the questions, we called on the staff who used to be responsible for the operation and visited the control room. We eventually had a clear understanding of the operational mode.

We hoped that we could have more experience from the journey and our advice could help those who are in need.
