The project of “the production of xylooligosaccharide and micro-nano fiber from bamboo”, which is undertaken by College of Energy at Xiamen University and Hongyu’an Bio-Technique Co. Ltd., has recently made great progress. The xylooligosaccharide product has been launched recently.

This project aims to use bamboo to produce xylooligosaccharide and micro-nano fiber. The investor plans to put 1.3 billion RMB for building a plant with an annual production capacity of 15,000 t xylooligosaccharide and 80,000 t micro-nano fiber from 300,000 t bamboo biomass in the coming three years, which would bring an economic benefit of 5 billion per year. Now a pilot scale plant with a capacity of consumption of 10,000 t bamboo has been established already with a successful commissioning.

The core technologies of this project are mainly composed of pretreatment of feedstock by alkaline-active oxygen coking, selective hydrolysis of bamboo fiber, purification of xylooligosaccharide /micro-nano fiber , and recycling of catalysts.
