The chief scientist in Watt laboratory of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, Dr. Yangxing Li gave a lecture as part of Nan Qiang Academic Lecture Series

On the invitation of College of Energy, the chief scientist in Watt laboratory of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, Dr. Yangxing Li visited Xiamen University College of Energy. Both sides had a deep communication on electrode material of lithium ion batteries, follow-on lithium ion battery technology, in situ characterization of lithium ion batteries. On the morning of Jan. 4th, Dr. Yangxing Li gave a lecture titled The path of lithium ion battery technology development in the 21st century in room A221 of Hemu Building. Dr. Yangxing Li introduced his own opinion about lithium ion batteries, and had a deep interaction with teachers and students from College of Energy, College of Materials, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and so on. This lecture was hosted by Vice Dean Qixun Guo, and Dean Ning Li awarded Dr. Yangxing Li a monument of Nan Qiang Academic Lecture.

  

Dr. Yangxing Li firstly introduced the development history of lithium ion batteries. Lithium ion batteries are always one of the best technology solutions for mobile devices’ energy storage because of its superior electrochemical behavior and cost-effectiveness. Security, high-power and high-speed are urgent demands about lithium ion batteries from people in the 21st century. Then, Dr. Li. introduced the presented chemical system of lithium ion batteries: black lead/LCO, black lead/ nickelic NMC, NCA, and so on. To improve energy density further, Dr. Li. provided a mainstream research direction and also indicated his idea on it. Next, Dr. Li. introduced some follow-on advanced technology of lithium ion batteries.

After the lecture, teachers and students presented interacted with Dr. Li. Room A221 enjoyed a warm and solemn atmosphere.
