On the period of July 10 to July 14, the 2018 summer camp for outstanding college students in College of Energy-XMU was held and 37 outstanding students from different universities joined the camp. The camp lasted for 5 days included written examination, interview, lecture, student forum and so on.

   On July 10, the first day of our camp, 37 students arrived Xiamen and were warmly welcomed by our college staff. We prepared temporary student card, camp clothes, camper identification and some daily supplies for all the students and helped them settle in their dormitories.

        In the next day’s morning, all the students started their written examination in room A204 of Hemu building. After the examination, Dean Ning LI, Vice Dean Lu Lin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Academy Zhaohai Ma and many other lecturers took a photo with 37 college students in front the Hemu building.

   In order to enhance the understanding of the students on the dominant disciplines and teachers in our college, we held the “Expert lectures” , providing a chance for our students to communicate with our lecturers, who specialize in different subjects and they are Yannan Xie from Institute of Energy Efficiency Engineering, Daqin Yun from Institute of Solar Energy, Zhengliang Gong from Institute of Chemical Energy, Jian Liu from Institute of Bio-energy and Yaoli Zhang from Institute of Nuclear Energy.

        On July 12, all the college students had their interview according to the specialty they applied for during a whole day. After all the interviews ended, we selected some excellent students from our college as representative and held the “Student forum” in the next day. They were doctoral student Kai Ye, Huai Liu and graduate student Yifen Chen, Donghao Wang and Jiang Han. The forum was held in  pleasant atmosphere and the questions raised by campers were answered by our student with their owned experiences.

    In the afternoon, the students visited our laboratories to communicate with professors and senior grade students directly. Besides, they could have a further awareness of the scientific facilities in our college.

       On July 14, the 2018 Opening Ceremony of  the Summer Camp of Xiamen University was held in Jiannan auditorium. At the beginning, vice principal Xinli Zhan delivered a speech to welcome all the camp students and congratulated them on accomplishing their examinations. She wishes them good luck in the following day and hopes that they can join Xiamen University. After the speech, professor Shuiyong Zhu from the College of Humanities gave a lecture on the history and culture of Xiamen University for our camp students.
