On the afternoon of Sept.10th, a seminar for parents of undergraduate freshmen was held warmly in A221 of Hemu Buliding. Several college leaders and teachers were present, involving college party secretary, Sun Ziguang, college vice party secretary  Ma Zhaohai and Sun Jia, league secretary Gong Shufeng, secretary for teaching Zhang Ling and head teacher Tang Xing and Zhou Yao. Sun Jia was in the charge of the seminar.

First of all, Sun Ziguang, the party secretary of college expressed his hospitable regards to parents present and sent his best wishes to those freshmen. Then, he prefaced his speech with the living situation faced by science and engineering, and demonstrated the competitive prospect of the major “Science and Engineering of New Energy”, along with an introduction on the pattern of talent cultivation in the College of Energy. Following a series of advice for parents on how to treat a child who now has already a college student, Sun Ziguang honestly asserted that parents should play a role of counsellor to stand in back of those so-called adults.

Next, the college vice party secretary Sun Jia gave her lecture for students on the development and planning of study and the management of routine life precisely and specifically. The major point of the lecture was her expectations for college students to positively participate in the training of innovation and entrepreneurship, in order to cultivate the consciousness of creation and spirits of exploration.

Finally, parents all got satisfactory replies about details of military training, future drifts of the major, prospects of employment etc., from zealous college leaders and teachers during the last Q&A.
